Upcountry leader asks Sri Lankan President for Peaceful solution

Mr.P.Chandrasekaran leader of the Upcountry People’s Front (UPF) has called on the President of Sri Lanka to seriously consider the reasonable political framework requested by the leader of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and thereby bring about a peaceful political solution to the island’s long running ethnic conflict.

He said that if the Sri Lankan government does not respond to this appeal by the LTTE leader in a positive manner then it may risk running the country into another civil war and hence lead to the destruction of the entire island.

Further Mr.Chandasekaran called up on the international community to exert pressure on the Sri Lankan government to come up with a reasonable political framework. He said that if the international community fails to act at this critical juncture, then any talks by them about human rights will be meaningless.
