Indian Army Commander visits Sri Lanka as War fears grow

Commander of the Indian Army's Southern Command Lt. Gen. V.S. Thakar, met the heads of Sri Lankan security forces on Wednesday.

The veteran Indian is believed to be on a five days long trip to oversee Sri Lankan Army’s preparedness for the impending showdown with the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).

Analysts fear that the trip is a clear sign of the Sri Lankan government’s intentions, despite the call for a ‘reasonable political framework’ by the leader of the LTTE.
